So, step one – you need to choose and buy the necessary equipment and hemp seed for growing marijuana. Choosing the right configuration for your home garden is one of the most important aspects of growing.
Today, there are a lot of goods for this kind of gardening on the market, so an uninitiated person may get lost in the abundance of brands and lines, but you should not be afraid. Indeed, in fact, the equipment for growing does not differ much from different companies. In essence, you just need to decide – you gravitate towards the products of a particular country.
Here, as with cars – someone loves German cars, someone Japanese, but the bottom line is the same – the car still goes and will take you where you need to. It is the same with growing equipment. Whatever you choose, you will grow your plants.
Choosing and buying Grow Box
After realizing this is not a difficult fact, it’s time for the second step – choose the right Grow Box. This term hides an awning or tent in which your plants will live. Such tents are also called a grow box or grow tent. No difference. Which Grow Box to Choose?
First of all, you need to decide on the size of the space that you are ready to allocate in your home for growing. Or how many plants you want. Grow boxes differ in price, mainly because of their size. The larger the tent, the more expensive it is. If you are tuned for one tree, then an awning with dimensions 40X40X120cm (width / depth / height) is enough for you. And if you plan to grow 4 plants or more, then it is wiser for you to choose the Grow Box, which has dimensions from 100X100X200cm and wider.
Grow boxes are made by different manufacturers: German, Dutch, Chinese. Products of Western European manufacturers are more expensive, but the quality of materials is higher there. Such a tent will serve you faithfully for more than one five-year period.
If you are on a limited budget, then you can opt for something cheaper. For example, quite good grow tents are produced in China. They are not so durable, but, often, they have more functional holes for ventilation and equipment connection than top-end expensive models differ. From the Chinese, the same functionality can be bought for almost nothing. Also, the budget of their models will allow you to change your Grow Box rather painlessly if the tent wears out after 3-5 years.
These are, in fact, all the differences between expensive and inexpensive grow boxes. It is important to note that any model is very quickly assembled and no special knowledge is needed here. An experienced person will be able to assemble a Grow Box in 20-30 minutes. If you are doing this for the first time, it will take you 40 to 60 minutes. It’s not difficult at all.
Choosing and buying lighting for plants
So, we have decided on the grow tent. Step number three – choosing the lighting for marijuana. In fact, we don’t just choose lamps – we choose the sun. As you know, for any plant, light is the most important thing. It is he who provides photosynthesis, which allows the plant to build its cells, or, more simply, to grow and exist in general. The budding grower should know that good light is the head in growing marijuana. You can save on other components of your home garden, but you cannot save on lighting.
Three types of lighting are currently used to grow marijuana: ESL (energy-saving lamps), LED (LED lamps), and HPS (sodium discharge lamps). Other plant lamps are not suitable.
And a little more theory. The spectrum of the lamp or the color temperature is important. Marijuana needs a color temperature of 6400 (blue) and 2700 (red). The blue spectrum is more suitable for the growing season, red for flowering. However, these nuances are a separate big conversation, and we will definitely return to it in our other articles. In addition, the power of the luminous flux, which is measured in lumens, is still important. The more lumens a plant receives, the easier it is for him to live, the more it grows and the more harvest you get.
Let’s dwell on the types of lighting. ESL is the simplest option. Its advantages can be attributed to its budget, the lamps themselves are relatively inexpensive and do not consume much electricity, in addition, they do not heat up the growbox space much, which is also very important, because marijuana ideally requires an air temperature not exceeding +26 degrees Celsius. But they have a significant drawback – their luminous flux is rather weak, so the owners of such lamps cannot count on rich harvests when compared with other types of lighting.
LED is a relatively new type of lighting. It is also very good – it does not heat up the space and also consumes little energy, but its main drawback is its high cost. Not every gardener can afford high-quality LED lighting.
Finally, HPS. According to most cannabis growers, this is the most optimal type of lighting for plants. The fact is that it produces the most powerful luminous flux. Therefore, if you want a rich harvest, then buy DNAT. An ordinary gas-discharge lamp has a spectrum in the region of 2700, but the amazing property of this lamp is that even not this spectrum can go through the entire growing cycle from vegetation to flowering and harvesting. And recently, an additional segment has been installed in such lamps, which enriches the spectrum with blue, which allows you to get simply phenomenal harvest results. However, HPS also has its drawbacks – it consumes quite a lot of energy and significantly increases the air temperature. However, this disadvantage of such lighting is solved very simply and this will be discussed below.
